BillyBoil Thermal Cooker

It's almost 4 Weeks till Springtime now, and I have ordered one of these on eBay. I noticed these about two years ago and had an Instant Liking for them! Forgetting to purchase one (momentarily) they were "out of sight, out of mind" with so many Websites to run. Now they have come up on my Mobile again, I had no hesitation to get one immediately. I love the Concept and the Cosmetics of this Item. So now there's one on the way to me!

This is the Official Website they come from.

Billyboil Thermal Cooker - Simple One Step Assembly - No Fuss

AI Overview

Using a Billyboil Thermal Cooker involves three basic steps: prep and boil ingredients in the inner pot, transfer the pot into the insulated outer shell, and let residual heat finish the cooking. [1, 2]

Basic Steps for Beginners

  • Prep and Sear: Chop your meat and veggies, place them in the stainless steel inner pot, and add your liquids.
  • Bring to a Boil: Place the inner pot on your stove and let it boil. Soups, stews, or pre-cooked ingredients need about 3 to 5 minutes of rolling boil; raw meats need up to 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Thermal Transfer: Turn off the stove, move the inner pot straight into the outer insulated bucket, and lock the lid tight.
  • Wait and Serve: Leave it alone for 2 to 6 hours. The food cooks slowly on its own without using extra gas or electricity. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Top Tips for Success

  • Don't Peek: Opening the lid lets the trapped heat escape, which stops the cooking process.
  • Fill It Up: Thermal cookers work best when the pot is at least two-thirds full to hold onto heat.
  • Use the Right Burner: Match the pot base to a correct stovetop ring size so it heats evenly. [1, 2]

Thermal Cooker Recipe Inspiration & Examples

The Billyboil is particularly well-suited to recipes for slow cookers,
Dutch ovens, or similar 'one-pot' meals.
Here are some styles of dishes to try:

  • Soups & Stews - Soups, stews, and other dishes that involve simmering or slow cooking are ideal for the Billyboil. The thermal cooker can maintain the heat for hours, allowing the flavours to meld and the ingredients to become tender.
  • Braised Dishes - Braising is a cooking technique that involves searing meat or vegetables at a high temperature and then simmering them in a flavourful liquid. The braising can be done in a separate pan or grill or in the base of the inner pot before adding other ingredients.
  • Curries - Curries, chilis, and other stew-like dishes that require long simmering times are perfect for the Billyboil. The initial cooking stage allows you to develop the flavours, and then the thermal cooker gently cooks the dish to perfection.
  • Grains & Porridges - You can easily prepare rice, oatmeal, congee, and other grains or porridges in a thermal cooker. After heat up, the insulated thermal cooker allows the cooking and absorption to continue without any burning or sticking.
  • Beans & Legumes - Dried beans and legumes often require long cooking times to become tender - a perfect task for the Billyboil.
  • Tough Cuts of Meat - Tougher cuts of meat, such as beef brisket, pork shoulder, or lamb shanks, benefit from long, slow cooking to break down the connective tissues and make the meat tender.
  • Various Side Dishes - You can also cook all the basics in a thermal cooker, like pasta, rice, or a side of vegetables. For this reason, many of our customers buy two units: the 3L thermal cooker for the sides and the 4.5L thermal cooker for the main dish.

Another recipe using my BillyBoil thermal cooker. It’s’ like a giant thermos - a slow cooker but unpowered and brilliantly insulated so it cooks in the residual heat. Gentle, quiet, low tech, mobile and uses so MUCH less energy.
