YES, HOURS OF TV AND INTERNET SURFING AND LOTS OF MEDIA OVER OUR "SMART PHONES" ARE PROVEN TO WEAKEN OUR IMMUNE RESPONSE TO VIRUSES, INFLUENZA AND PANDEMICS. COMPUTER GAMES ARE IN THE MIX. I WILL INCLUDE SOME POSITIVE INFO FOR YOU. CHEMICAL LADEN FOODS ARE ALSO A PROBLEM BUT WE WILL DEAL WITH THESE THREE HERE SHALL WE? I COVER NUTRITION ALERTS IN A DIFFERENT POST - A LINK IS PROVIDED AT THE END OF THIS PAGE. WALKING, EXERCISE AND SLEEP ALSO BENEFIT OUR BRAIN. I FOUND THESE EXCELLENT ARTICLES ON THESE TOPICS AND WILL PLACE EXCERPTS HERE. THIS CUTS DOWN SOME OF MY WRITTEN WORK BECAUSE I RUN SEVERAL WEBSITES.
How Binge-Watching TV Can Wreck Our Immune Systems - 2018
It turns out there are some surprising daily habits, such as overdosing on our favourite TV Series, that can wreak havoc on the body’s ability to fight off Colds and Influenza.
Nicole Jennings, spokesperson for Pharma Dynamics – a leading provider of colds and flu medication – says the relatively new phenomenon of being able to watch an entire TV series all at once, as opposed to waiting a week, has sparked several studies that attempt to understand how binge-watching is impacting our health.
She cites a paper published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine which found that people’s addiction to watching TV Series can lead to Chronic Fatigue, which has a damaging effect on our Immunity.
“According to the study, over half (52%) of binge-watchers viewed three to four episodes in one sitting, with an average session lasting three hours. If one considers that most of the watching occurs in the evening, that doesn’t leave much shuteye. Binge-watchers also reported more fatigue and insomnia and had 98% more chance of having poor quality sleep than those who limited their screen time.
“Watching TV in a dark room for hours on end can really mess up our Circadian Rhythm (the cycle that regulates physiological processes) and disrupts sleep-wake cycles. The blue light emitted from TVs, PCs, laptops, smartphones and other devices can also reduce the production of Melatonin (a hormone that promotes sleep). Poor sleep in general is associated with Lower Immune System Function and a Reduced Number of Antibodies or ‘killer cells’ that help to fight germs! Adults need between seven and nine hours of uninterrupted sleep every night in order for the Immune System to function optimally. You can still enjoy watching TV, but try to avoid binging” she recommends.
Apart from lack of sleep, marathon-viewing can also exacerbate mindless eating and unhealthy snacking – both detrimental to your waistline and immunity.
Research by Cornell University’s Food and Brand Lab found that some action-packed shows made participants eat twice as much (98%) than others who watched milder talk show content. Those who watched depressing shows, like the sci-fi drama also ate 55% more than participants who watched positive programmes. According to the researchers, action and adventure shows may encourage viewers to eat more, because viewers subliminally try to keep up with the pace of the story. Stress and anxiety experienced during a show also leads to comfort-eating.
IS YOUR COMPUTER MAKING YOU SICK? HOW DIGITAL DEVICES ARE DAMAGING YOUR HEALTH
By Team Tony at TonyRobins.Com
Most of us know the physical and mental fatigue all too well that comes from using our computers, TVs, tablets and phones for hours on end. According to a report by The Vision Council, more than 90% of American adults spend two or more hours per day in front of some sort of screen, nearly 60% spend five or more hours, and 30% said they look at screens more than nine hours per day.
It’s understandable — digital devices have become a critical part of our productivity and quality of life. But what is this really costing us?
Electronic screens aren’t just leaving us wired and tired, they’re affecting our health in a very real and very damaging way. Here’s how.
BLUE LIGHT
Most digital screens are backlit and emit blue light, or high-energy visible (HEV) light wavelengths. Research has shown that overexposure to this light can contribute to eyestrain and discomfort, and even lead to more serious conditions later on such as macular degeneration.
Blue light has also been shown to suppress melatonin — the sleep hormone — desynchronizing the body clock and causing an artificial feeling of wakefulness. And this can lead to a number of other complications, such as hormone imbalance, depression, and even brain inflammation.
THE CORTISOL HORMONE
The cortisol hormone helps the body manage stressful situations by increasing blood sugar levels and reducing the response of the immune system. But research has shown that prolonged use of electronic devices can overstimulate your cortisol production — which can have notable effects on the brain.
And your Weight!
Excess cortisol levels cannot only weaken your ability to control stress, but can actually cause your brain to shrink, that compromises your ability to concentrate, make decisions, sound judgments and interact socially.
PROBLEMS FOR CHILDREN
Many children are addicted to television and electronics. In fact, most American children spend about 3 hours a day watching TV. And when you factor in computers, tablets and gaming devices, that number climbs to about 5 to 7 hours a day.
Because children are much more sensitive and malleable than many realize, it doesn’t take much electronic stimulation to take its toll on their still-developing minds and bodies. And the ever-increasing screen time has been shown to lead to sleep, mood, and cognitive issues including:
Sensory Overload - Lack of Restorative Sleep - Hyper-Aroused Nervous System - Depressive States - Reduced Physical Activity Levels - Fractured Attention Span - Depleted Mental Reserves - Desensitized Brain Reward System - Stunted Emotional Development - High Insulin Levels.
Thank You Tony! So the Tech Screen Tablet Manufacturers told us they "would make our little kids smarter" aye? It's called Marketing Ploys and they have No Conscience! Find your children some good healthy activities that will make them emotionally stable. They won't like it at first but they will get used to no Tablet or much less. Plus they will thank you when they grow up.
TVs and PCs are Not good babysitters! They're often a makeshift for when we are tired and lazy or lack imagination to think of other things for them to do and sometimes an effort to tell them to shut up and leave us alone when they could do with some undivided attention. Yet we have a place of responsibility to make sure they're well nurtured and balanced but some parents keep them up to all ours of the evening even, before they wish to go to bed and they lack the Necessary SLEEP for their growing brain to develop well.
When you are so tired at the end of the evening, you more than likely fail to spend those minutes expressing heart-felt affection to them - especially if they're overtired and cranky. Some parents reprimand them for that. Unbelievable! Lots of parents want "Smart Kids" these days, do you want "Loved Kids?" You may like to do some reading about "Emotionally Intelligent" Kids - Neuroscientists are saying this wins more in their favor life through and affords strong coping skills. Lets aim for Healthy-Happy Kids. Yes? You'll pardon me for being pertinent about such matters. Your health and happiness is important to me - so are your children's. It's such a busy generation we're living in and someone needs to speak in their favour.

Exercise Can Help Your Immune System Fight Off Infections
Regular exercise can boost your immune system and help fight off infections.
Exercise allows immune cells to perform effectively — it increases blood flow, reduces stress and inflammation, and can strengthen antibodies.
Exercise has many proven health benefits, from reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease to improving your mood — and even a stronger immune system.
Exercise also causes immune cells to be more effective, says Farshad Fani Marvasti, MD, director of the public health theme at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Regular exercise reduces inflammation, allowing the immune system to perform better. While acute inflammation in response to an injury is part of a healthy immune system, chronic inflammation can slow down the immune system.
"Regular exercise improves the immune response and improves immune markers," says Joshua Scott, MD
