I WAS BROUGHT UP IN A COUNTRY TOWNSHIP NOT FAR FROM THE BEACH AND PLAYED OUTSIDE A LOT. MANY KIDS ARE BROUGHT UP HAVING CLOSE CONTACT WITH THE SOIL BECAUSE THEIR FAMILY HAS A VEGGIE GARDEN OR THEY LIVE ON A FARM. HEALTH SCIENTISTS ARE SAYING THIS GIVES CHILDREN A GOOD HEALTHY START IN LIFE AND BENEFITS THEIR IMMUNE SYSTEM. THEY’RE ALSO SAYING THAT KEEPING YOUR CHILDREN AND HOUSE SO CLEAN AND OVERUSE OF DISINFECTANTS IS NOT GOOD FOR THEIR HEALTH.

Are You Overly Careful How Your Kids Play?

Some Thoughtful Considerations.

Dr. Muneer specializes in Pediatrics, lets see what she has to say.

Picture this: A baby’s pacifier falls to the ground. A first-time mom sterilizes it thoroughly before giving it back. With her second baby, she quickly runs it under some water first. By her third child, the mom brushes it off and pops it right back into her baby’s mouth. Was her third child any worse for the wear?

We spend a lot of time and energy protecting our babies and kids from germs. But some germs could actually help protect them.

Our health is influenced by all the microorganisms inside our bodies and the surrounding environment.…

I LIKE THIS STORY, IT SPEAKS ABOUT MORE THINGS THAN YOU WOULD EXPECT. THE VISIONARY CONCEPTS HERE ARE REALLY INSPIRING.........YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT HOW THEY IMPLIMENTED THINGS. THEY DIDN'T JUST GIVE PEOPLE A BOX OF SMALL SEEDLINGS. AND YOU SHOULD READ ABOUT WHAT THEY DO WITH FRUIT TREES. YES, THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS CO-OP ARE GENEROUS KIND VISIONARIES. WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS KIND OF THING WIDESPREAD - MAYBE IN SOME COMMUNITIES IN AUSTRALIA. WELL DONE!

Cooperation Humboldt, a transition initiative in Humboldt County in California, is providing mini-gardens for free to help communities in the state’s North Coast become self-sufficient and achieve food independence.

The organization initially provided free lawn conversions but decided to shift its focus later on. Tamara McFarland, a leader within the cooperation, was concerned that the lawn conversion project failed to reach individuals who would benefit the most from growing their own food. Most of the people applying for lawn conversions were long-term renters and homeowners with a stable income and the privilege of starting a backyard garden.

When the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit, the organization became even more motivated to move away from its lawn-conversion model, which required a number of volunteers working side-by-side for long stretches of time.…

THEY SAY AMERICANS LIKE TO DO THINGS IN A BIG WAY, AYE? WELL YOU MUST READ ABOUT WHAT THIS STRAWBERRY FARMER IN WISCONSIN DID LAST YEAR WHEN PEOPLE COULDN'T GO OUT MUCH DURING THE PANDEMIC. IT BROUGHT SMILES TO EVERYONE'S FACES - EVEN THOSE WHO WERE TOO FAR TO COME. I'VE OFTEN SAID PLACES ARE FROM A TO B IN ADELAIDE, A TO G IN OTHER STATES, AND A TO Z IN AMERICA. GREEN SPACE IS A TERM USED FOR GARDENS, PARKS AND NATURE SETTINGS THAT ARE PLANNED OR INTRODUCED IN CITY AND SUBURBAN AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS, WORKERS AND VISITORS AND ENHANCING DEVELOPMENTS. Gardening For Health: A Regular Dose Of Gardening

By Richard Thompson – Royal College Of Physicians UK

There is anxiety that the NHS cannot cope now and in the future with the health needs of an increasing and ageing population. It is also realised that pharmaceutical drugs are increasingly expensive and are not always as effective as they appear in the results of early, enthusiastically reported, clinical trials. Drugs are also prescribed at the cost of side effects, which are a leading cause of admissions to hospitals, particularly for the elderly, who are poorly represented in trials.…

THIS LAST YEAR HAS BROUGHT MANY OF US INTO MORE CONTACT WITH NATURE WHEN HAVING TO DISTANCE OURSELVES SOCIALLY. I'VE ALWAYS LOVED TO HEAR THE BIRDS WHEN THEY VISIT NEARBY, WAKE UP EARLY IN THE MORNINGS, SEE THEM IN THE PARKS, AT THE BEACHES, FLYING IN FORMATIONS ON OCCASSIONS ABOVE THE HOUSES IN MY LOCALITY WHEN I STEP OUTSIDE. I'VE JUST PURCHASED A SECOND BIRDBATH RECENTLY, SO I HAVE A DEEPER ONE OUT THE FRONT FOR THE MAGGIES WHO LOVE TO SPLASH IN IT, AND A SHALLOW ONE FOR THE BACK, SO THE SPARROWS CAN REFRESH THEMSELVES TOO. I CAME HOME THE OTHER DAY TO SEE A PIGEON RESTING PEACEFULLY IN THAT ONE FOR QUITE SOME TIME - NOT SO QUICK TO FLY AWAY, AYE? WITH A LITTLE PATIENCE, YOU CAN BEFRIEND SOME BIRDS A LITTLE - ATLEAST WE CAN MAKE OUR YARDS INVITING AND EXPERIENCE PRECIOUS MOMENTS HERE AND THERE ON DIFFERENT DAYS.

WALK FOR PLEASURE OR LEISURE AND TAKE IN SOME FRESH AIR OR SUNSHINE. IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD AND IT'S GREAT FOR YOUR HEALTH. THE 1O,000 STEPS THEY SAID YOU HAVE TO DO HAS NOW BEEN PROVEN WRONG - NOT EVERYONE IS UP TO THAT - 5,000 TO 8,000 STEPS IF YOU'RE KEEN FOR BEST RESULTS, RESEARCH NOW REVEALS. IN FACT, SOME RESEARCHERS ARE SAYING THAT EVEN 15 MIN WALKS CONFER SOME BENEFITS OR 2 OR 3 TEN MINUTE WALKS IN A DAY. THERE IS SO MUCH SAID BY PHYSIOS AND CHIROS, NEUROSCIENTISTS AND PSYCHOLOGISTS ABOUT OUR NEED TO KEEP MOVING OFTEN THROUGH THE DAY FOR OUR HEALTH'S SAKE - SEDENTARY LIVING WITH VERY LITTLE MOVEMENT CAN SET US UP FOR HEALTH CONDITIONS WE DON'T WANT. BUT SOME 'EXPERTS' HAVE MADE THINGS SOUND COMPLICATED OR LOTS OF HARD WORK AND IT REALLY ISN'T AT ALL. TAKE A SIMPLE APPROACH YOU CAN STAY WITH AND DO ENJOY!

Up until earlier this year, Luen Free was typically in a dimly lit nightclub, entertaining.

But with the Coronavirus pandemic putting her and many others out of work, she is using the time to pursue her other passion: Organic Farming.

And with the pandemic leaving fewer backpackers who typically go 'WWOOFing' — volunteering on organic farms — Australians are being encouraged to help out on home soil. Soaking up knowledge.

WWOOF stands for Willing Workers on Organic Farms, a worldwide movement that has connected thousands of volunteers — many of them travellers — with farmers who offer food and a bed in exchange for gardening know-how.

From DJ To Permaculture During Pandemic

G'Day Farm co-founder, Greg Dixon, said he and his wife Dionne would struggle to run the farm smoothly without WWOOFers.

They welcome a small number of regular volunteers, who donate a few hours each week, as well as visitors like Luen and her husband Patch who stay for a week or more. "Each WWOOFer we've had, they've been great — a huge help," Mr Dixon said.

WWOOF Australia manager, Traci Wilson-Brown, said border restrictions meant fewer backpackers, who typically make up 80 per cent of WWOOF volunteers — but more Australians were taking their pandemic passion for gardening to the next level.…

It’s been 16 days since my university shut down classes and I went into social isolation. Those first days of isolation felt like the end of the world. I felt constantly on edge. I was in a terrible mood most of the time and I resented the fact that I was stuck inside the house for everything. My work was online, my studies had transitioned online, I could only see and talk to my friends online. And amidst all of that, the internet bubble of news only seemed to be getting more and more anxiety-inducing.

I spent those sought after minutes of freedom walking my neighbourhood in an attempt to rid myself of the negative feelings of anger and anxiety that seemed to be constantly swirling around inside me.

I have begun to look forward to my daily walk not just as an escape but as an enjoyable activity in its own right

And so my daily walk began as a way to escape the confines of the four walls of my house. If I didn’t leave I felt I would go stir crazy. One morning I woke up and did my level best to eat breakfast and change into my gym gear without encountering any of the other three people who live in my house.…

"Let's live in Contentment - Happiness is more tangible that way, not so far from our grasp" (JV)  I will share some good insights with you. Would you care to join me?
Contentment is a good thing, it is not dependent on circumstances for our peace of mind. Can you see the beauty of that? Maybe you will after reading this post.
A family member said these words to me today: "I am going to enjoy what I have in life.....I am going to be content with the things that I have and not bother with the things I don't have. I will make the most of everything I have that is good.....it makes me contented and happy. If we want to be happy, we need to stop and think about what we have. Obviously, you have them because you liked them at some stage.I'm going to enjoy them now!"

I can give a hearty "YES" to that because her words (above) are SO TRUE! Happiness is not in endless possessions, the latest car and furniture or that something big you are waiting to happen - whatever that may be - Happiness is within your grasp once you see and find the Value of Contentment.…
