How to Stop Mental Clutter and Fall Asleep Faster

By Mie Hermansen – MSN

Establish a Consistent Nighttime

A regular bedtime routine helps signal to your brain that it’s time to wind down. Avoid screens, bright lights, and stressful activities in the hour before bed.

Write Down Your Thoughts

If your mind is cluttered with worries, jot them down in a notebook before bedtime. This helps clear your head and prevents you from mentally going over the same concerns repeatedly.

Practice Deep Breathing

Slow, deep breaths can calm your nervous system and reduce stress. Try the 4-7-8 breathing technique: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds.

Listen to Relaxing Sounds

Soothing sounds like ocean waves, rain, or soft music can drown out mental chatter and create a more peaceful sleep environment.

Make Your Bedroom a Sleep Sanctuary

Ensure your bedroom is dark, cool, and quiet. Remove distractions and consider blackout curtains or earplugs if necessary.

Try Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Tense and relax different muscle groups one at a time, starting from your feet and moving up through your body. This technique helps release tension and prepares you for sleep.…

New Study Reveals Hidden Risks of Early Antibiotic Use in Children

Story by Mie Hermansen - MSN

New Study Reveals Hidden Risks of Early Antibiotic Use in Children

Antibiotics are essential in modern medicine, especially for fighting infections in children. But new research warns that overuse—particularly in the early years—may quietly affect long-term health in surprising ways.

Early Exposure Carries Hidden Risks

A large-scale study reveals that repeated antibiotic use before age 2 can be linked to various chronic health conditions later in childhood.

Gut Microbes Take a Hit

Antibiotics disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the gut, potentially weakening a child’s immune system over time.

Allergies on the Rise

Children exposed to frequent antibiotics showed increased risks of developing asthma, hay fever, and food allergies as they grew older.

A Possible Link to Developmental Delays

The research flagged a possible connection between antibiotic use and intellectual disabilities—but more studies are needed to confirm the link.

Not All Conditions Are Affected

Reassuringly, no clear ties were found between antibiotic use and autoimmune diseases like celiac or inflammatory bowel disease.

No Strong Ties to ADHD or Autism

Parents can breathe a sigh of relief: the study found no significant association with conditions like ADHD or autism spectrum disorders.…

Find Relief From Migraines Through Natural Remedies

About 20 years ago, I was into Natural Health Research a long time and I came across a young woman at a Conference Camp Site who had travelled from Interstate and she had to stay stationary on her bed in her Dorm because she was experiencing a Migraine that would last for days, someone told me. Well I rushed immediately to the small country township to see if they had a packet of Feverfew Capsules to buy them for her. They did, but someone had taken her to the Hospital.…

HEY THESE ARE REALLY GOOD. YOU SHOULD GIVE SOME A TRY.
SOMETIMES WE ONLY NEED THE SIMPLE THINGS - NOT COMPLICATED.

You don’t need a weekend retreat or hours of meditation to calm down.

According to Science, just five minutes of small, intentional actions can help your body relax.

Take Five Deep Breaths

Your breath is directly connected to your Nervous System.

Deep, slow breathing can lower blood pressure, calm your heart rate, and reduce cortisol - the stress hormone linked to poor sleep and brain fog.

Try "coherent breathing": inhale for six seconds, exhale for six - steady and slow.

Hug Someone Or Hold A Hand

Touch releases oxytocin, the "love hormone" that helps to regulate stress.

A 20-second hug can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Self-touch works too - place a hand on your heart, rub your arms, or gently touch your face.

Step Outside In The Sunshine

Natural light helps reset your body clock, boosts vitamin D, and improves heart rate variability.

Just two minutes outdoors can improve your mood and reduce inflammation. Even standing on a sunny balcony counts.

Take A Brisk Five Minute Walk

Movement boosts blood flow to the brain and activates the "default mode network", which supports daydreaming and creativity.…

I don't have much faith in GPs and the Medical System, as I have made clear on this Website. They often give dangerous advice and write Scripts for Toxic and Addictive Meds. But I have added this Article because it speaks about the Benefits of Exercise in relation to Mental Health. I do think this Principle in Practice could be really good for some Readers of my Blog and I wish you all well.

During the pandemic, Nikola Sowry made a decision that helped her become happier and healthier.

After feeling challenged and disconnected during recurring lockdowns, the 29-year-old decided to try out a community football team in Melbourne's inner suburbs.

"Finding footy and this club genuinely changed my life," she said.

Before football, Nikola struggled to find exercise that suited her.

While she never had a diagnosed mental health condition, she credits the South Melbourne Districts team with transforming her physical and mental health.

"I'm just such a happier, healthy version of myself by being here," she said.

What Nikola experienced is backed by research.

The link between mental health and physical activity is strong enough that studies are showing exercise can be used on its own as a treatment for mild to moderate depression or anxiety. …

There are two people in my Family whose Mental Health has been seriously Affected through Poor Diet. One of them was trying to make ends meet financially. He made many meals with Pasta mostly, and a Slice of Bread with Vegemite (he used margarine instead of butter) for lunch and Cereal for breakfast. He also had LOTS of Coffee. After doing that for many months, he experienced a Full Swing Major Nervous Breakdown that commenced in a state of Psychosis. His Body AND his Brain were starved for Nutrients and as a part-time Natural Health Researcher, I felt his Myelin Sheaf had worn very thin (that is meant to be a protective lining that cushions our Nerve Cells) that was proven to be true. Since he has changed to a much Healthier Diet he does much better and finds some enjoyment in Life because it has helped him to improve his mental outlook and perspectives. He also avoids thinking about Negative things. The other Family Member was Seriously Affected after having an addiction to Confectionary that put her off a lot of good food. An absolute "No No" because Sugar (and Synthetic Sweeteners) are Very Bad for Our Brain.…

Hi Folks, I had a lot of time on my hands 20 Years ago and I can see the benefit having a Nice little Pet would be for someone with Disturbed Thoughts of some kind - which Mental Health presents us with often. People often feel Lonely or Bored too, and experiencing Unconditional Love from a Pet that shows affection could be a really Uplifting Experience for them. And this could possibly also serve to snap some people out of episodes of Rumination. I have a Nice Neighbour who really Loves her Bow Wow......she takes him for 15-30 Minute Walks through a Small Park in front of my house and a few streets each day. It makes him very happy. And they love to sit together in her Living Room and play together.

6 Reasons A Pet Is Good For Your Mental Health

Their cute factor isn't the only thing they have going for them.

If you have a pet—especially one of the furry variety—you're probably familiar with the surge of love you feel when she curls up next to you. Or the way petting his head and feeling his soft fur under your fingertips makes a stressful work day fade into the distance.…

Limits Can Lead to Adapting and More Cooperation,
Peace and Joy in Families. If you don't make sufficient Limits for Kids, they Press Your Limits:)

Through the years, Parents I've known who don't practice Limits with their Kids have little, to absolutely No Peace in their house. So the Helpful Information that's in this Article I found, should prove to be of immense Value to some of you Parents out there. Enjoy!

Almost always, the challenges parents are seeking to solve when they come to see me—meltdowns, inflexibility, defiance, or power struggles—are rooted in the absence of an important limit. That is what is causing so much stress for the entire family.

When the limit isn’t clear, and there is a lot of discussion or negotiation about something (more books at bedtime, more things the child says they need to do before they are willing to go to sleep, more treats, more screen time...), it opens up a big, black hole that the child fills with endless attempts to keep parents engaged or to get them to do what they want. This is not just exhausting and maddening for parents; it is exhausting for kids who expend a lot of mental energy making their case and pursuing all angles, getting themselves increasingly wound up and dysregulated.…
