After they leave the nest, parents always hope their kids will come back and
visit. Even when that kid is a kangaroo.
Australian mom and wildlife rehabilitator Gillian Abbot rescued this baby roo when it was two months old and raised the orphan, giving it a teddy bear to cuddle with.

Baby Kangaroo Comes Home To Hug His Teddy

Now almost fully grown, Doodlebug, as he was named, is making another life transition, what animal-rescue folks call a “soft return” to the wild.

He comes and goes as he pleases now, and every time the eastern gray
kangaroo returns to his homestead, he empties the food bowl and hugs his
teddy– just like old times.

The family shared a photo of the young marsupial holding tight to the teddy
bear, which has been thoughtfully tied up to dangle at a huggable height.
Abbot is a licensed ‘wildlife carer’ in New South Wales and a member of the rescue organization WIRES .

Often in the lead up to Christmas, the tree with the curious common name “snow in summer” is in full bloom.

Snow in summer (Melaleuca linariifolia) is an Australian paperbark, and is endemic to parts of Queensland and New South Wales. It has spikes of creamy white flowers that grow in dense clusters at the ends of branches and twigs. When in profusion, they look very much like snow-capped foliage.

It intrigued me as a youngster and, not surprisingly, I associated it with Christmas and the images of the snowy festivals of the northern hemisphere, which were such a contrast to our own experiences.

Depending where you live, Melaleuca linariifolia tends to flower from late October until February, but in many parts of Australia they are in full flower in December. Once they start, however, you must be quick to catch sight of them — the impressive flower show doesn’t last more than a couple of weeks.

Hear The Hum Of Insects

Naturally, snow in summer often grows near water and rivers, and can reach heights of ten to 12 metres (but is often lucky to make it to eight metres).…

Koala makes itself at home in South Australian woman's Christmas tree after 'wandering in'

By Imogen Dewey | 9:55pm Dec 2, 2020

There are still 23 days until Christmas, but one koala couldn't wait — finding a way into a woman's home in South Australia and making itself comfortable in her Christmas tree.

The Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue charity shared photos of the animal in its festive new perch this evening.

An Adelaide woman had found the koala nestled among her frosted baubles and snowflake decorations, and called the rescue service for assistance.

At first, the group explained in a post on Facebook, the operator "thought it was a prank call".

"But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda's house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree."…

This Is An Endearing Story By Terry Turner In November 2015

After he saved a baby deer’s life, he had a hard time returning it to the wild–the little thing refused to leave his side.

Lithuanian outdoorsman happened upon a doe as she gave birth to twin fawns. He hung around to watch the baby deer take their first few steps, and that’s when he noticed something was wrong.

Baby Deer With Rescuer Darius Sasnauskas

One of the fawns had an injured leg, causing the mother to instinctively abandon it.

Darius Sasnauskas couldn’t leave the little deer alone in the woods, so he brought it home to rehabilitate and release it.

Like the Australians did for this lamb, he made a leg brace from an oatmeal box and worked to get the fawn back on its feet.

The fawn quickly settled into life with his new family, sticking by Sasnauskas’ side and playing with their two big dogs.

When the fawn was ready to return to the woods, Sasnauskas hiked out to find a doe who might adopt the baby. It took several tries because the fawn didn’t want to leave the man who’d “fawned” over it for so long.…

Since Father-Son Duo Designed Revolutionary ‘Honey on Tap’ Beehive, There Are 51,000 New Bee Colonies
By McKinley Corbley

Back in 2015, a father-son duo changed the beekeeping game simply by redesigning the traditional beehive – and now, honeybees are benefitting from their profits.

Stuart and Cedar Anderson are the co-creators of the Flow Hive: a brilliantly designed beehive that saves beekeepers hours of work simply by channeling all of its honey into a tap that can be turned on and off at will.

The Flow Hive allows honey to flow out of the hive straight into a jar without crushing or disrupting the bees inside.…

It’s been 16 days since my university shut down classes and I went into social isolation. Those first days of isolation felt like the end of the world. I felt constantly on edge. I was in a terrible mood most of the time and I resented the fact that I was stuck inside the house for everything. My work was online, my studies had transitioned online, I could only see and talk to my friends online. And amidst all of that, the internet bubble of news only seemed to be getting more and more anxiety-inducing.

I spent those sought after minutes of freedom walking my neighbourhood in an attempt to rid myself of the negative feelings of anger and anxiety that seemed to be constantly swirling around inside me.

I have begun to look forward to my daily walk not just as an escape but as an enjoyable activity in its own right

And so my daily walk began as a way to escape the confines of the four walls of my house. If I didn’t leave I felt I would go stir crazy. One morning I woke up and did my level best to eat breakfast and change into my gym gear without encountering any of the other three people who live in my house.…

YOU MUST READ THESE STORIES. IT'S GOOD TO HAVE OPTIMISM AND IT'S NICE TO HEAR GOOD THINGS WHEN CIRCUMSTANCES ARE STRESSFUL - PERSONAL OR NATIONAL. I LOVE TO BRING SUCH STORIES TO YOU ON OURS AUSTRALIA. PERSONALLY, I DO NOT "WATCH THE NEWS"......... I PREFER TO FIND GOOD NEWS. KUITPO FOREST IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE, IT WAS A NICE SURPRISE TO HEAR OF THESE NEW VENTURES ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. CHEERS TO THE PEOPLE CONCERNED.

Beekeepers Chosen For Kuitpo Forest Pilot Program Jul 2020

THREE South Australian apiarists have been offered sites within the Kuitpo Forest Reserve to each house up to 120 beehives, in a bid to allow beekeepers access to public land in order to address growing pollination demands across the state.

Aaron Woolston, Meningie, Les Crane, Macclesfield, and Simon Peacock Mypolonga are the successful beekeepers to be involved in the pilot program.

Primary industries minister, Tim Whetstone, said a strong apiary industry was vital for the state's horticulture and agriculture industries.

"The buzz of activity we expect in the Kuitpo Forest Reserve will help address the further 20,000 hives required to meet pollination demand in the South Australian almond industry," Mr Whetstone said.…
