Brett Emmerson, Queensland chair of the Royal Australian and New Zealand's College of Psychiatrists, says the college wants stronger regulations of medicinal cannabis products and prescribing practices.

"We're seeing a lot of people getting medicinal cannabis who end up with their first psychotic episode, or we're seeing it dispensed to people who have psychotic conditions, and these people are relapsing," Professor Emmerson says.

"Part of the issue … are these single-issue clinics which, if you ring up, it doesn't matter what you say you want.

"They'll provide it for you even though there is probably no indication that it will work, and the prescribers never contact the person's treating doctor.

"You find out two or three months down the track that one of your patients has been on medicinal cannabis — not prescribed by you but by some other prescriber — usually a doctor who hasn't had the professional courtesy of contacting you and letting you know."…

You devote more energy and efforts in Opposing the Other Party than you do in Putting Your Best into that which you can Genuinely Offer AND Implement. And between Elections, you often "fight like cats and dogs" over things - even in Parliament Sessions - instead of "Working Together" for Our Benefit. That would be Refreshing to See. But instead, you "Major on Miners" so often and fail to address Real Issues we are Really Concerned about.…

There are two people in my Family whose Mental Health has been seriously Affected through Poor Diet. One of them was trying to make ends meet financially. He made many meals with Pasta mostly, and a Slice of Bread with Vegemite (he used margarine instead of butter) for lunch and Cereal for breakfast. He also had LOTS of Coffee. After doing that for many months, he experienced a Full Swing Major Nervous Breakdown that commenced in a state of Psychosis. His Body AND his Brain were starved for Nutrients and as a part-time Natural Health Researcher, I felt his Myelin Sheaf had worn very thin (that is meant to be a protective lining that cushions our Nerve Cells) that was proven to be true. Since he has changed to a much Healthier Diet he does much better and finds some enjoyment in Life because it has helped him to improve his mental outlook and perspectives. He also avoids thinking about Negative things. The other Family Member was Seriously Affected after having an addiction to Confectionary that put her off a lot of good food. An absolute "No No" because Sugar (and Synthetic Sweeteners) are Very Bad for Our Brain.…

Hi Folks, I had a lot of time on my hands 20 Years ago and I can see the benefit having a Nice little Pet would be for someone with Disturbed Thoughts of some kind - which Mental Health presents us with often. People often feel Lonely or Bored too, and experiencing Unconditional Love from a Pet that shows affection could be a really Uplifting Experience for them. And this could possibly also serve to snap some people out of episodes of Rumination. I have a Nice Neighbour who really Loves her Bow Wow......she takes him for 15-30 Minute Walks through a Small Park in front of my house and a few streets each day. It makes him very happy. And they love to sit together in her Living Room and play together.
