Researchers show more energy needed to get going than later in walks when body is working more efficiently.

Researchers have hit on an unusual tip for walkers who want to burn more calories: rather than plodding along steadily from start to finish, consider taking rest stops.

The advice emerged from a study of volunteers who were put through their paces in the laboratory to measure the oxygen and energy demands of short strolls versus longer walks.

Tests on the participants found that walking or climbing stairs in 10- to 30-second bouts required 20 to 60% more oxygen, a proxy for energy consumption, than covering the same distance in one continuous session, largely because walking is more efficient after several minutes in motion.

“When we walk for shorter bouts, we use more energy and consume more oxygen to cover the same distance,” said Francesco Luciano, a researcher at the University of Milan and first author on the study. “It’s like having a car that consumes more fuel during the first few kilometres than it does afterwards.”

The team launched the study after noticing that many estimates of the energy needed for walking drew on data from people exercising at a metabolic steady state.…

A nightly ritual involving rubbing magnesium oil on your feet is gaining attention due to its potential health benefits. This article explores the significance of magnesium and the benefits it offers. Magnesium is essential for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, yet research indicates that up to 75 percent of people might not be getting enough.

The recommended daily intake of magnesium is between
310 to 320 milligrams for women and 400 to 420 for men.

Many have found transdermal application, which involves applying magnesium directly to the skin, to be an effective method. One such practice involves spraying magnesium oil, a sea salt spray, on the feet and rubbing it in. This method might cause a tingling sensation initially and can either be left on the skin overnight or washed off after 20 to 30 minutes.

All berries are good for cardiovascular health,
but 2 Cardiologists agree that this one comes out on top.

If you were to stock your kitchen full of heart-healthy foods, leafy greens, nuts, beans and salmon are some great ones to start with. Another top food for heart health is berries. Berries may be small, but they're packed with nutrients that benefit cardiovascular health.

All types of berries (besides poisonous ones, of course) are good for heart health and it’s best to eat a wide variety to get a good mix of nutrients. But if you want to prioritize one type of berry with heart health in mind, cardiologists are in agreement on which type to go for.

The Best Berry for Heart Health, According to Cardiologists

It bears repeating that all non-poisonous berries are good for your heart, but both cardiologists say that blackberries are the absolute very best. “Blackberries tend to have a higher content of fiber and antioxidants,” Dr. Panhwar says.

The experts agree that blueberries are another top berry for heart health. “Blueberries are often highlighted for their high levels of antioxidants and potential to improve heart health by reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels,” Dr.…

MORE to Watch Out for Folks! Some of these Polymers have been around for years. They have been used in Skin Care and Cosmetics and NOW there are New Derivatives of those Chemicals entering the Market.

The concern about these Chemicals is, they are very TOXIC and have been found to Cause Cancer.

As surely as we have learned about Manufacturer’s serious Lack of Ethics, instead of the Industry cutting out the use of these Chemicals, they USE Them all the More. And as we are so accustomed to, our Governments are more concerned with Raising High Revenue from the Massive Profits/Taxes of this highly Lucrative Industry than they are about our Health and Welfare.

There’s so much we hear about “in the name of Truth” these days, and there is what Natural Health Researchers who really Care about your Health call an
“Information War” going on.

And of-course, this is not funny because it means that YOU a Member of the Public AND Consumer are caught in the middle of this War between TRUE Information and FALSE Information.…

HERE'S AN INOVATIVE APPROACH TO WEIGHTLOSS
THAT IS RECORDING GOOD RESULTS.

By Positive.News

You’d be forgiven if you thought the key to improving your health was a New Diet or more Willpower. Turns out it’s Kindness, says the founder of a unique program that launched in January.

Every Sunday, participants in Eddie Jones’ Health Program fill in a form to let him know how they got on during the week. But they’re not tracking workout duration, weight loss or calories. Instead, they’re totting up Acts of Kindness.

“It’s completely Anonymous, so I can’t tell who’s writing. I’ll never know,” Jones says. “I just dip into it every week or two. There have been some really, really wonderful things in there.”

He points to a participant who bought a supermarket voucher for someone who was struggling to feed their children. Another cared for a bee with an injured wing. Someone else simply wrote a kind note to an acquaintance and slipped it into a flower pot for them to find.

Jones is a qualified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist who has been helping people Transform their Health for almost a decade.…

WHY DO WE CRAVE SUGAR?
There are many reasons why we go for sweet things.

That appetite may be hardwired. "Sweet is the first taste humans prefer from birth," says Christine Gerbstadt, MD. Carbohydrates stimulate the release of the feel-good brain chemical serotonin. Sugar is a carbohydrate, but carbohydrates come in other forms, too, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, which have fiber and nutrients your body needs.

The taste of sugar also releases endorphins that calm and relax us, and offer a natural "high," says Susan Moores, a registered dietitian and nutrition consultant in St. Paul, MN.

Sweets just taste good, too. And that preference gets reinforced when you reward yourself with sweet treats, which can make you crave it even more.

How to Stop Sugar Cravings: Tips to Use Right Now
If you're craving sugar, here are some ways to tame those cravings.

Reach for fruit. Keep fruit handy for when sugar cravings hit. You'll get fiber and nutrients along with some sweetness. And stock up on foods like nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, says certified addiction specialist Judy Chambers. "Have them handy so you reach for them instead of reaching for the old [sugary] something."…

THIS KEEPS COMING UP IN RESEARCH OVER RECENT MONTHS AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ARTICLES, FROM Jim Kwik - A Brain Trainer to Top Performers. HE IS THE 2rd BRAIN TRAINING GUY WHO HIGHLY RECOMMENDS IT. THE OTHER GUY SAID IT'S THE BEST EXERCISE WE CAN DO FOR OUR BRAIN. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT WALKING BENEFITS OUR BRAIN TOO and SO DOES HANDWRITING!

The digital era has changed the way we read. According to a study from the Pew Research Center, the average American is reading fewer books than they were forty years ago, with only 31% of the population reading at least one book a year. This is a 10% decline in overall reading habits. So, why are people reading less?

It may seem simplistic to say technology, but the availability of social media, streaming apps, and access to the Internet has provided a welcome distraction to many people who are overworked and overwhelmed. And there are plenty of digital resources for anyone to access news, stories, and other reading material that condense the content into bite-sized pieces. Studies show that the average reading time online is approximately 55 seconds, which isn’t nearly long enough to see the amazing brain benefits reading can provide.…
